Here’s why:

In 2022, we partnered with the Robert C Marshall Recreation center of the city of Baltimore and two city of Baltimore elementary schools to come to our first Ocean Bowl Games.  There were 24 summer campers who didn’t know what to expect for this one-day summer field trip at a sound studio in Cockeysville, Maryland.  Wow were they surprised at the level of excitement, engagement, and participation that occurred.

It went so well that the Baltimore Parks and Recs asked if they could now include 3 rec centers for the next Ocean Bowl Games summer STEM with arts programming and field trip.  So in 2023, for the Ocean Bowl Games Baltimore championship at the Shake and Bake fun center in the heart of west Baltimore, we immersed and “edutained” 170 kids in Brain Games, Playground Games(skating & bowling), and e-Gaming tournament to determine who would become the 2023 champion.

The Baltimore Parks and Recreation centers saw the engagement and impact from STEAM Your Dreams.  Just like the 2024 summer Olympics were held in Paris, France, the parks and recreation centers and local schools now see that they can send their school or organizational champions (olympians)  to represent them at the 2025 Ocean Bowl Games in Baltimore and Regional Championships in Rockville, MD.  They increased the number of recreation centers to six which increases our attendance now to 250 kids from the ages of 7 to 14 years old.  With our new STEM partners Microsoft and the Harlem Globetrotters, we provide technology programming to empower the scholars to learn more about game design and development.  https://youtu.be/jWum_AJuo9k?si=jBPngW_RB82lH2AO

We are thrilled to invite you to the Baltimore City and the Washington D.C. Regionals Ocean Bowl Games 2025 summer season of fun that provides a unique and immersive Steam-based gaming expo, festival, and eSports championship tournament, set to take place on the campus of the Universities of Shady Grove in Rockville, Maryland.

**Event Details:**

– **Baltimore Dates:** Thursday, July 9th – Friday, July 10th, 2025 – 9 am to 4 pm EST.

– **Washington D.C. Regionals Dates:** Thursday, July 24th – Friday, July 25th, 2025 – 9 am to 4 pm EST.

– **Baltimore Location:** TBD

– **Washington D.C. Regionals Location:** Universities of Shady Grove (9630 Gudelsky Dr, Rockville, MD 20850)

– **Participants:** 250 to 300 champions from inner-city Baltimore parks and recreation centers, schools, and surrounding counties, ages 7 to 14 AND for the Washington D.C. Regional Championship, we estimate 300 to 500 participants along with 100 to 150 in volunteers, parents, and other spectators.

The Ocean Bowl Games are designed to combine the thrill of competition with educational enrichment in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Over two exciting days, participants will engage in a series of events aimed at testing their knowledge and skills:

1. **Brain Games:** On Day 1, Featuring STEAM-based projects such as marine ecology sciences.

2. **Playground Games:** On Day 1, A hybrid activity where participants must answer STEM-related questions to earn chances to bowl a big blow ball into pins.

3. **e-Gaming Championship:** On Day 2, gamers will compete in an Ocean Bowl e-gaming knockout tournament. The top 4 teams from the Blue Pod and Red Pod will battle in the XBOX Windows PC game, AquaBall League.

The event will culminate with an awards ceremony where the first and second-place champions will receive prize money converted into Fulton Bank savings accounts.

Our goal is to create a highly immersive and engaging experience through gamification-based learning. Each activity integrates summer reading exercises and assessments, ensuring that participants reaffirm their knowledge through gameplay. Our e-games feature a trivia engine that awards power-ups for correct answers, promoting both fun and educational advancement.

**Baltimore Event Highlights:**

– **Science:** Projects curated by IMET, focusing on topics like aquaculture.

– **Technology:** Microsoft game coding sessions.

– **Engineering:** Robotics and tower development by 21st Century Ed.

– **Art and Math:** Brought to life by NBA Math Hoops in collaboration with Learn Fresh.

– **Innovation:** Drone Soccer demonstrations by Virginia Tech Innovation Labs.

– **Financial Literacy:** Interactive sessions provided by Fulton Bank.

**USG REGIONALS Event Highlights:**

– **Science:** Projects curated by AstraZeneca US, focusing on topics like life sciences and bio-tech.

– **Technology:** Pi Coding.

– **Engineering:** Design, Code (via Pi) and Build a Light switch – presented by the Cyber Physical Systems Program of USG (Brian Schome and Matt Lab

– **Art and Math:** 3D Art printing & NBA Math Hoops in collaboration with Learn Fresh.

– **Innovation:** Drone Soccer demonstrations by Virginia Tech Innovation Labs.

– **Financial Literacy:** Interactive sessions provided by Fulton Bank.
